What is Rough Magic?
Artists have a strong desire to be an active force for social justice and postive change, but often feel like we don’t have much money to give or any time to spare. Rough Magic was created as a handmade, low risk and high reward way to turn our abundant talent and energy into resources for those who need it.
Rough Magic Nights happen at theaters around Chicago and are unique, one night only celebrations of creative abundance and gratitude. Performances are varied, all music is live, all food is homemade, and inspired Cheap Art is available to take home with you! Every penny raised on a Rough Magic Night goes to specially chosen organizations who are practicing daring, inspired, creative innovation for good.
How Rough Magic Works
Tokens
Give us $10 and we’ll give you a token! Each token you have represents the full $10 you've donated.
Jars
Read the mission of each organization we are honoring that night. Pick one to support, and put your token in that jar. End of the night, they get your $10.
Crowns
If you want to know more about the organizations we are honoring, how to vote, the event itself, or where the bathroom is, ask someone wearing a sparkly crown!
